Joseph Wharton lived all his life in his apartment in the city, but at some point the area got under reconstruction and instead of a house, the men decided to build a road.
Of course, the cost of the old house was compensated, but the amount was clearly not enough for new houses in the same area.
Another would be completely upset, but not Joseph: he decided to build a new house in a place where he would definitely not have to leave in the future due to the next construction. Wharton bought an empty, microscopic islet in the bay and began building his new home.
His choice fell on a small island in the middle of the bay, which was on sale for a very long time. The island was literally 50 by 50 meters in diameter, but it was enough for a man to build a house.
Wharton bought the land, then went into the project without haste, and soon construction began on the island.
The man had little money and construction proceeded very slowly. But gradually, year after year, the house began to take shape.
Joseph decided to build it for his entire large family - so it had 23 rooms, several balconies, terraces and its own boat dock. After all, from the island you must somehow get to the mainland.
